Easywork is a London based electronic/dance music project formed by Charlie Phillips. The 6 track EP ‘Nifty’ is now available on iTunes and from all other major digital retailers.
Charlie writes and produces the music, and Djum Djum is on the mic. Djum Djum is best known for being the voice behind Leftfield’s ‘Afro Left’. He’s on tour with Leftfield at the moment – more info here and here .
Charlie has worked in and around music since the mid 90s with Radiohead, Capital Radio, Napster and many more.
Easywork music is produced using….
Propellerhead Reason (used it since version 1.0), now upgraded to include Record. Rough audio edits and sound munching done in Logic Express on a MacBook Pro, occasionally using a Marshall mini stack for crunch and amp sounds. Most synth sounds are home-grown, and dip into demo Refills for other sounds – particularly drum sound building blocks. Djum does his own vocal production – I’m not sure what he uses.
The ‘Nifty’ EP was mixed at Sphere Studios Studio 2, through an SSL desk with a ton of outboard, and ten grand’s worth of Dynaudio Acoustics M4 monitors. Nice. The Easywork DJ set up is…Native Instruments Traktor on a MacBook Pro, running through a Native Instruments Audio Kontrol 1 hardware unit. That’s it.
